Precision medicine, person-to-person care
I studied medicine at the University of Guadalajara and trained as a urologist at Hospital General Dr. Manuel Gea González. I then completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Mexico, where I stayed on as an attending physician until 2021, and a master's degree in Andrology at Fundació Puigvert in Barcelona. Today I am on staff in the urology department at Hospital Ángeles Universidad.
Today I operate with the da Vinci Xi robotic system and with prostate laser, two technologies that reduce pain and shorten recovery. But technology is only part of it: I believe a good consultation starts with listening. That's why I give each visit enough time, review your studies with you on screen, and send you home with a written plan.
I'm a founding partner of Urólogos de México, a group of specialists present in Mexico City's main hospitals. When a case needs more than one mind, it gets them.

Frequently asked questions
What patients usually ask before coming
Do you see patients in English?
Yes. I see patients in English, in person or by video visit, including patients based in the United States, Canada, Spain and across Latin America. My assistant also handles WhatsApp and phone in English.
How much does a consultation cost?
An in-office consultation is $1,600 MXN and includes a full history, physical examination, review of your previous studies and a written plan. When the case calls for it, we use ultrasound and uroflowmetry right there, at no extra cost and without needing another appointment. A video consultation is $1,400 MXN.
Do you offer video consultations from abroad?
Yes, for $1,400 MXN. I see patients by video from outside Mexico City, elsewhere in Mexico, Latin America, Spain and the United States. It works especially well for reviewing studies, giving oncology second opinions and following up at a distance. Keep in mind that some conditions require a physical examination, and I'll tell you plainly when that's the case.
Do you take health insurance?
Yes, we work with all carriers. Message me on WhatsApp with the name of yours and my assistant will explain the process and which documents you'll need to schedule your procedure or surgery. For international insurers, ask us in advance so we can confirm the reimbursement route.
What should I bring to my first visit?
The list of medications you take and every study you have: labs, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs or biopsy reports. If they're on a disc or USB drive, bring those too. If you have nothing, come anyway: the assessment starts with listening to you.
My PSA is elevated. Does that mean I have cancer?
Not necessarily. PSA can rise from infection, from benign prostate enlargement, from cycling, or even from recent sexual activity. What matters is reading it alongside your age, your physical exam and other studies. That's exactly what we do in the consultation.
Do you see women?
Yes. Urology isn't only for men: recurrent urinary tract infections, kidney stones, incontinence and kidney or bladder tumors are frequent reasons women come to see me.
Will you give a second opinion if I already have a diagnosis?
Gladly. It's one of the consultations I do most. Bring your studies and reports; we'll go through the case together and I'll explain the available alternatives with their benefits and risks.
What is robotic surgery and why does it matter?
I operate with the da Vinci Xi system, which lets me work with very small instruments and three-dimensional vision through incisions a few millimeters wide. In practice that usually means less bleeding, less pain, fewer days in hospital and a faster return to normal life. Not every case needs it; in the consultation I'll tell you honestly whether yours is one of them.
